Chinese President Xi Jinping called for stronger communication, cooperation and peaceful coexistence between China and the United States during a welcome ceremony hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. Xi said the two countries should build a stable relationship through regular dialogue, mutual trust and greater cooperation, noting that their interests are closely connected.
Xi called for cooperation in areas including trade, investment, artificial intelligence, law enforcement and travel, while saying competition between the two countries should remain healthy and avoid conflict. He also called for stronger communication between the two militaries to prevent crises and misunderstandings.
Xi highlighted the long history of exchanges between the Chinese and American peoples and announced that China would invite 100,000 young Americans to visit China for study and cultural exchanges over the next five years. He also announced that two pandas, Ping Ping and Fu Shuang, would soon arrive at Zoo Atlanta. Xi said that China’s development and America’s goal of becoming stronger can move forward together, and called for continued friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
