Chinese Foreign Ministry highlights key Xi, Modi agreement: China and India should be partners

Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed that China and India should be partners rather than rivals, calling this their most important consensus. Both leaders emphasized mutual respect, cooperation, economic development, and resolving differences through dialogue.

Modi stressed that India’s relationship with China is independent of other countries, while Xi said the two nations should support each other’s development. They also agreed to strengthen economic and trade ties, improve public perceptions of bilateral relations, and cooperate within BRICS and the Global South. China will host the next BRICS summit and take over the BRICS presidency next year.
