China’s imports grew strongly in August, rising 28.2% from a year earlier, while exports increased 25%. This means China’s import growth has been faster than export growth for six months in a row. Total foreign trade reached about 684 billion US dollars, up 26.3% year on year. Trade with countries in the RCEP group also grew quickly, while exports of integrated circuits more than doubled, helped by strong global demand for AI technology.
