China is putting technology at the center of its plans to become a stronger sports power from 2026 to 2030. The new plan will use AI, big data and cloud computing to improve athlete training, performance analysis, talent selection and injury prevention ahead of major events such as the 2026 Asian Games.
The plan also aims to make exercise more accessible to the public. China wants 40 percent of its population to exercise regularly by 2030 and plans to build or upgrade more than 5,000 community sports facilities. AI will also be used to provide personalized fitness advice for groups including young people and older adults.
China’s sports industry is another major focus. The industry was worth about 5.12 trillion yuan in 2025, and the country aims to increase it to more than 7 trillion yuan by 2030. Authorities will support the development of smart sports equipment, wearable devices, intelligent stadiums and other sports technologies. Credit : CGTN
