The second edition of the World Humanoid Robot Games opened Saturday at Beijing’s National Speed Skating Oval, featuring over 1,000 mechanized entries from 666 global teams. Highlighting the opening day, a China-developed robot broke Usain Bolt’s 2009 100-meter dash record with a time of 9.39 seconds, while another Beijing-built entry cleared 2.8843 meters in the standing high jump. Running through Wednesday, the five-day event features 51 sports and scenario-based competitions designed to showcase advanced capabilities for real-world applications in logistics, hospitality, and household services.
