Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for stronger and more stable relations between China and South Korea. During a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, Wang said both countries should maintain high-level communication and build on recent meetings between their leaders.
Wang also called for more cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, green technology, the digital economy and advanced manufacturing. He said China and South Korea should speed up negotiations on the second phase of their free trade agreement and increase exchanges among young people, media, sports and local governments.
Cho Hyun said South Korea remains committed to its one-China policy and wants to strengthen cooperation with China. Wang also said China would continue playing a constructive role in promoting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
