OpenAI has secured a 20-year lease for a massive artificial intelligence data center at a former Cold War-era uranium enrichment site in Ohio, supported by a $105 billion financing guarantee from Nvidia. Powered exclusively by Nvidia chips, the facility aims for an eventual 8-gigawatt capacity, making it the world’s largest single AI computing hub. SoftBank and site owner SB Energy will invest over $4 billion into local grid infrastructure and construct 10 gigawatts of new energy generation to supply the facility, which is expected to generate 35,000 construction jobs and 2,500 permanent operational roles.
