The second World Humanoid Robot Games will open at Beijing’s National Speed Skating Oval, known as the “Ice Ribbon,” on August 22, bringing together 2,056 robots from 16 countries and regions. Co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government and China Media Group, the five-day event will feature 51 competitions and 1,301 matches, nearly doubling the scale of last year’s inaugural games.
This year’s program places greater emphasis on practical applications, with robots competing in household services, logistics, industrial tasks, emergency rescue and other real-world scenarios. New events, including dexterous hand challenges and combined skill contests, will test precision, coordination and autonomous decision-making.
Competition rules have also become stricter, with shorter time limits and higher requirements for fully autonomous performance. Events such as robot soccer, combat, weightlifting and dance will showcase advances in teamwork, mobility and artificial intelligence as teams from leading robotics companies and universities compete for medals.
