Opening Ceremony of Weekly Movie Screening Event Held

The opening ceremony for the weekly movie screening event and the screening of the documentary “Space Future” was held on Sunday at the National Theatre in Yangon. The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, the China Cultural Center (Yangon), China Media Group (CMG), and Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV).

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Shen Dan, Director of the China Cultural Center (Yangon) Mr. Han Jiajun, and invited guests.

First, artists from MRTV and Chinese artists performed a joint “Pauk-Phaw” cultural performance. During his opening remarks, Mr. Shen Dan, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, stated that film is an art form that directly touches the heart and serves as a bridge for cultural exchange. He noted that film exchange activities between China and Myanmar have increased in recent years, yielding fruitful results in areas such as movie screenings, talent exchange, and the translation of artistic works. He emphasized that cultural exchange plays a vital role in bilateral relations and expressed his wishes for long-lasting China-Myanmar friendship.

Next, Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint delivered a speech, stating that broadcasting and film presentation are art forms capable of overcoming language and cultural barriers. He highlighted that space technology today is no longer merely about space exploration but has developed into a technology directly connected to people’s daily lives. He added that the state is also striving to advance its space technology development.

Mr. Han Jiajun, Director of the China Cultural Center (Yangon), mentioned that film is one of the most influential cultural media. He explained that this film screening program follows an “Opening Ceremony + Weekly Screening” model, with regular weekly screenings to be held at the China Cultural Center. He added that the center and CMG continuously strive to build a youth-centered, culture-based platform to enhance people-to-people ties and youth connections between China and Myanmar.

The event concluded successfully after the screening of the Chinese documentary “Space Future: Shenzhou 13”.
