China’s 2026 summer box office revenue, including presales, has surpassed 7 billion yuan (about $1.03 billion), according to box office data.
More than 120 domestic and international films are scheduled for release during the summer season, covering genres such as drama, comedy, action, animation, and science fiction. The growth has been supported by the “2026 Film Economy Promotion Year” initiative, with the country’s film industry chain generating more than 340 billion yuan in output value so far this year.
