Israeli airstrikes hit Gaza for a second consecutive day on Sunday, killing at least 18 Palestinians, including children and women, according to Gaza officials. The strikes targeted residential areas, displacement shelters, vehicles, and gatherings across the Gaza Strip despite ongoing efforts to implement a ceasefire agreement.
The attacks followed recent claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that Hamas and other armed groups had agreed to disarm as part of a phased ceasefire plan. However, Israeli officials said they remained skeptical and insisted that Hamas must fully disarm before further steps are taken.
Hamas accused Israel of undermining ceasefire efforts through continued attacks, saying it had shown flexibility but would only consider handing over weapons after Israel stops its offensive and withdraws forces. Mediators and international officials are continuing efforts to reduce tensions and advance the ceasefire roadmap.
