2026 Myanmar-China Cultural Exchange Week Holds “Farmland Theater Forum”

The “Farmland Theater Forum,” an event under the “Affection of Mountains, Loyalty of Breeze” 2026 Myanmar-China Cultural Exchange Week program, was held on Wednesday at Studio “A” of Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) in Yangon.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint, Chinese Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Deng Lihong, Director-General of MRTV U Ye Naing, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Yunnan Province and Director-General of Yunnan Daily Press Group Mr. Yang Yuanzhang, along with invited guests.

At the opening ceremony, artists from MRTV performed the “Paddy Planting Traditional Dance,” followed by musical performances by Chinese artists.

In his opening speech, U Ye Naing, Director-General of MRTV under the Ministry of Information, stated that, as Myanmar is an agricultural country, producing and exporting value-added agricultural, livestock, and MSME products domestically and internationally would improve the socio-economic conditions of rural communities. He added that the Ministry of Information broadcasts the Farmer Channel to enhance farmers’ agricultural knowledge. Furthermore, at the invitation of the Yunnan International Communication Center (YICC), two TV crews from MRTV were dispatched to Yunnan Province to document and record experiences related to agricultural technology.

Next, Mr. Yang Yuanzhang, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Yunnan Province and Director-General of Yunnan Daily Press Group, expressed the desire to use cameras and paintbrushes to demonstrate the mutually beneficial relationship between China and Myanmar as neighboring countries in the fields of agriculture, rural development, and ecological conservation. He also highlighted the ongoing development of discussion platforms involving young journalists and agricultural entrepreneurs from Myanmar and Yunnan Province.

Afterward, four agricultural and livestock experts from Myanmar and two experts from China participated in a three-part panel discussion under the theme, “Though the Mountains and Fields Do Not Speak, the Harvest Remains Bountiful.”

Following the panel discussion, artists from MRTV showcased the traditional costumes of Myanmar’s ethnic groups, while Chinese artists presented the traditional ethnic attire of Yunnan Province.

Subsequently, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint and Mr. Yang Yuanzhang pressed a button to launch the broadcast of “Auspicious Hope Farmland,” a joint production by MRTV and the Yunnan South Asia and Southeast Asia Regional International Communication Center. The attendees then watched the first episode of the program.
