China and ASEAN member states have issued a joint statement expressing concern over the Middle East conflict and its impact on regional and global peace, stability, trade, investment, energy and food security. Released after the China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila on July 22, the statement called for disputes to be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful means in accordance with international law, while noting China’s four-point proposal to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
