The United States launched a third consecutive night of strikes against Iran on Monday, with explosions reported in several cities in southern Iran. President Donald Trump also said the US would reinstate its blockade of Iranian shipping and keep the Strait of Hormuz open, though vessels would be required to pay transit fees.
Iran responded by launching missile and drone attacks on US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, while also striking two UAE oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. The attack killed one crew member and injured eight others, according to UAE authorities.
As tensions escalated, Trump formally notified Congress that hostilities with Iran had resumed, a move the administration said opened a new 60-day window for military action without additional congressional approval. Missile attacks on US bases in Jordan and Bahrain were also reported on Tuesday.
