Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai from July 17 to 20 and deliver a keynote speech, China’s Foreign Ministry said.
Themed “Intelligent Partners, Co-create the Future,” the conference will bring together government officials, industry leaders, researchers and international organizations to discuss AI development and global governance. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Xi will outline China’s policies and proposals on AI innovation and governance.
China said the conference aims to strengthen international cooperation, promote safe and responsible AI development, and encourage global collaboration, including support for AI capacity-building in developing countries.
