China’s H1 cross-border trips hit record high of 369 million, up 10.8%

China recorded 369 million cross-border trips in the first half of 2026, an increase of 10.8 percent compared with the same period last year, according to the National Immigration Administration. The rise reflects stronger international travel demand and growing exchanges between China and the rest of the world.

The increase was supported by expanded visa facilitation measures and the recovery of international tourism and business activities. Foreign travelers have also contributed to the growth, with more visitors entering China through visa-free policies and simplified entry arrangements.

Authorities said border inspection services have been strengthened to support the rising number of travelers while ensuring smooth and efficient movement at ports across the country.
