Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for urgent rescue efforts and a thorough investigation following a deadly fire at a shoe factory in Jinjiang, Fujian Province. Xi urged authorities to provide assistance to victims, determine the cause of the accident, and hold those responsible accountable.
The fire broke out on Thursday at the factory, causing significant casualties. Authorities launched rescue operations and dispatched emergency teams to the scene. Officials have also been instructed to strengthen workplace safety measures and prevent similar industrial accidents from happening again.
The blaze at the Huiteng shoe factory reportedly killed 28 people, with rescue efforts complicated by flammable materials used in shoe production.
