Planned US-Iran talks in Doha remain uncertain after Iran said no negotiations with the United States are scheduled this week, despite Washington sending a delegation led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The conflicting statements highlight the fragile ceasefire reached on June 17 following four months of conflict.
Meanwhile, Iran and Oman held talks in Muscat on the future management of the Strait of Hormuz. Oman opposed charging transit fees for ships, while Iran said it could move ahead with new arrangements independently if necessary.
At the same time, tensions remain high as Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that Israel is prepared to launch military action against Iran if negotiations fail or if Iran attacks Israel again. He also said Israeli forces will remain in security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
