Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with UAE National Security Council Secretary-General Ali Mohammed Hammed Al Shamsi in New Delhi on Tuesday. Wang said China is willing to deepen cooperation with the UAE, strengthen high-level exchanges and promote closer people-to-people ties.
Discussing the Middle East, Wang called for a lasting ceasefire, implementation of the recently signed Iran-US MoU, the restoration of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and efforts to build a new regional security framework. He said China supports the UAE’s role in promoting regional peace and stability.
Shamsi described China as one of the UAE’s most important partners and thanked Beijing for its role in encouraging a political solution to regional conflicts. He said the UAE is ready to expand cooperation with China and coordinate on efforts to support peace and safeguard international shipping and supply chains.
