Seven European countries call for immediate halt to Sudan violence

Seven European countries have called for an immediate halt to violence in Sudan, warning that the city of El-Obeid faces a growing humanitarian crisis as it remains surrounded by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a joint statement, the countries urged the RSF to stop military operations and warned of reports suggesting an imminent attack on the strategic city. The UN has also raised concerns about a possible offensive and the risk of mass atrocities.
Aid agencies say El-Obeid could face famine within weeks if humanitarian access is not restored. Food and water prices have surged, medical supplies are running low, and more than 130,000 people have been displaced as fighting intensifies across the Kordofan region.
