The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reported 808 confirmed Ebola cases and 192 deaths as of Monday, according to the country’s health ministry.
Health officials said 26 new cases and 11 deaths were recorded on Sunday, bringing the outbreak’s fatality rate to 23.8 percent. A total of 363 patients are currently in isolation, while 48 people have recovered since the outbreak began.
The response continues in the eastern provinces of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu. The outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, was officially declared on May 15.
