A Chinese medical expert team met with Jean-Jacques Muyembe, head of the National Institute of Biomedical Research in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), to strengthen cooperation on Ebola prevention and control amid the country’s ongoing outbreak.
The two sides discussed epidemic response priorities including testing, case management and public health coordination. Muyembe welcomed the Chinese team’s support, noting that although the DRC has experience dealing with Ebola, significant challenges remain in the current response. He also highlighted China’s expertise in infectious disease control and expressed hope for deeper practical cooperation to improve outbreak management capacity.
