Iran’s football federation on Tuesday accused the United States of revoking its World Cup ticket allocation for group-stage matches, saying the move would block Iranian fans from attending games in the 2026 tournament.
The federation said Iran had already begun distributing tickets for matches against New Zealand, Belgium and Egypt—scheduled in US host cities—before its allocation was withdrawn. It also claimed visa and administrative hurdles have affected team officials, further straining preparations amid ongoing political tensions between the two countries.
Iran called on FIFA to intervene and ensure equal treatment for all participating nations, saying the decision violates the principles of neutrality and fairness in international sport. Neither FIFA nor US organizers have issued an official response.
