Xi Jinping’s signed article ahead of his state visit to DPRK

Ahead of his two-day state visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping published an article in the DPRK’s official newspaper expressing anticipation for his meeting with Kim Jong Un. Xi emphasized that China and the DPRK are friendly socialist neighbors whose traditional friendship remains unbreakable despite shifting international landscapes. He highlighted that their bilateral ties are rooted in a shared socialist ideal and a commitment to regional and global peace, with both nations firmly supporting each other’s national sovereignty, security, and development interests.
Affirming that consolidating relations is an unwavering policy for China, Xi called for deeper strategic communication and close high-level exchanges, particularly utilizing the 65th anniversary of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. He advocated for mutual learning in state governance, expanded practical cooperation to benefit both peoples, and strong multilateral coordination. Finally, Xi stressed the importance of upholding the United Nations-centered international system, opposing hegemonism, and rejecting actions that undermine regional security.
