A federal court in Nigeria has sentenced four men to death by hanging for their roles in a 2022 terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, which killed at least 50 worshippers.
Justice Emeka Nwite convicted the defendants on terrorism-related charges, including murder, kidnapping, and use of explosives, while one co-accused was acquitted due to insufficient evidence. The court also imposed additional prison terms for related offences. The attack remains one of the deadliest on a place of worship in Nigeria in recent years.
