China’s Ministry of Finance has allocated 99.9 billion yuan (about $14.65 billion) in central government funds for childcare subsidies in 2026, marking a 10.6% increase from the previous year.
Combined with local government contributions, total spending is expected to reach about 110 billion yuan. Authorities say the funds are being rolled out through health departments nationwide and will be closely supervised in coordination with the National Health Commission to ensure proper use and to support efforts to encourage higher birth rates.
