On Saturday, the event titled “Sharing Stories of Building a China-Myanmar Community with a Shared Future” was held in Yangon, Myanmar. H.E. Ms. Ma Jia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu; Speaker U Thet Aung; relevant officials; and more than 200 representatives from China-Myanmar chambers of commerce, enterprises, social organizations, universities, think tanks, and media outlets attended the event. The event was jointly organized by the Myanmar Office of the China Foundation for Peace and Development, the Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and the Myanmar-China Communication and Cooperation Association.

Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia said that the China-Myanmar community with a shared future profoundly embodies the special relationship between the two countries, which are closely interconnected and share both prosperity and adversity. It also reflects the brotherly bond between the two peoples, who stand together in times of difficulty and support one another. Building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future is a concrete practice that benefits the development of both countries and improves the well-being of their peoples. It is a story of China and Myanmar advancing side by side, supporting each other, pursuing win-win cooperation, and bringing their peoples closer together. Ambassador Ms. Ma Jia expressed her hope that people from all sectors would continue to support the cause of China-Myanmar friendship, promote the further development of bilateral relations, and steadily advance the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future in the new era.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu said that Myanmar respects and cherishes the “Paukphaw” friendship, which has been passed down and nurtured by generations of leaders from both countries, and admires China’s remarkable development achievements. He said that the two countries should continue to carry out practical cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, including projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation framework. He noted that the younger generation plays a vital role in a country’s future and expressed hope that young people would shoulder the historic responsibility of carrying forward the Myanmar-China “Paukphaw” friendship.

Young representatives from ICBC Yangon Branch, the Myanmar-China Communication and Cooperation Association, Southeast Asia Gas Pipeline Company, CITIC Myanmar, Conch Cement, Myanmar Texmall Group, the Myanmar Wushu Association, and the Myanmar International Education Center shared touching stories of China and Myanmar standing by each other through both challenges and successes. Drawing from their personal growth and professional experiences, they highlighted the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
