Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper held the 11th China-UK Strategic Dialogue in Beijing on Tuesday, agreeing to deepen cooperation and strengthen their long-term comprehensive strategic partnership.
Wang said that the recent high-level engagement, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to China earlier this year, has helped place bilateral relations on a more stable path and encouraged a return to normal exchanges across multiple sectors.
He emphasized China’s continued openness to cooperation, pointing to opportunities in areas such as trade, artificial intelligence, energy, and climate change, while also urging the UK to ensure a fair and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese companies.
Cooper, in turn, reaffirmed Britain’s commitment to building a steady and constructive relationship with China, noting that the UK’s policy on Taiwan remains unchanged and that differences should be managed through dialogue. Both sides also exchanged views on major international issues, including Iran and Ukraine, as part of broader efforts to maintain communication on global stability.
