China’s State Council has released an urban renewal plan for 2026–2030, setting out how cities will be upgraded during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
The plan aims for major progress in urban renewal by 2030, with cities expected to become more livable and better suited for long-term development.
It outlines priorities including improving housing quality, upgrading infrastructure, making cities greener and safer, and strengthening urban governance. It also calls for better use of unused land and the renovation of older residential areas.
