China and Pakistan have highlighted their close strategic partnership during high-level talks in Beijing, where Chinese President Xi Jinping met Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The two leaders reaffirmed the long-standing “ironclad” friendship between their countries, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations and pledging to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, technology, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence. They also emphasized expanding both major development projects and smaller community-focused initiatives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Both sides reiterated strong political support on core interests, with China backing Pakistan’s sovereignty and Pakistan reaffirming its support for the one-China principle. They also agreed to strengthen coordination on regional security and international issues, including efforts related to Middle East stability.
The visit also reflects broader engagement, including training of Pakistani candidates in China’s space program, symbolizing deepening cooperation beyond traditional political and economic ties.
