Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China appreciates the Seychelles government, along with other friendly countries, for what Beijing described as the lawful and public revocation of outbound flight permits linked to Lai Ching-te.
Wang made the remarks during talks in Beijing with Seychelles’ foreign minister Barry Faure, emphasizing that China expects more countries to support its position on Taiwan and uphold what it calls international consensus on the one-China principle.
He also highlighted growing China-Seychelles cooperation and said Beijing is ready to expand ties in areas such as the digital, marine, green, and island economies, while continuing support for Seychelles’ sovereignty and development.
Seychelles reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China policy and expressed interest in deepening bilateral cooperation.
