China has urged Japan to revise what it called mistaken remarks and actions regarding Taiwan and to stop moving toward remilitarization, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun.
Speaking at a regular briefing, Guo said some right-wing forces in Japan are challenging the post-World War II international order and creating concerns about regional peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific.
He also referenced recent discussions between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump on regional issues, saying the postwar order was established jointly by Allied powers after defeating Japanese militarism.
China called on Japan to address its Taiwan-related stance, follow a path of peaceful development, and build trust with neighboring countries through concrete actions.
