The MV Hondius cruise ship, affected by a hantavirus outbreak, is scheduled to dock in Rotterdam for disinfection and medical screening of its remaining crew and medical staff.
Dutch authorities have prepared quarantine facilities for some of the 25 crew members, though it remains unclear whether they will all complete the full recommended quarantine period. The World Health Organization has reported 10 total cases linked to the ship, including deaths, while stressing there is no sign of a wider outbreak but warning that new cases could still appear due to the virus’s incubation period.
The vessel, operated by Oceanwide Expeditions, has been under close international monitoring, with crew and contacts quarantined across multiple countries.
