Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a phone call with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday, urging Pakistan to intensify its mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. Wang specifically highlighted the importance of addressing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor. He commended Pakistan for its role in facilitating talks and extending the current temporary ceasefire, reiterating that China remains committed to supporting these peace efforts to restore regional stability.
The conversation also focused on the upcoming 75th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations. Both ministers agreed to use this milestone to consolidate their “ironclad” friendship and advance their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. Beyond regional security, Wang and Dar emphasized the need for closer coordination on multilateral platforms like the UN to uphold global multilateralism and safeguard their shared core interests amidst a turbulent international landscape.
