Iran sets five preconditions for renewed US talks, rejects nuclear concessions, local media reports

Iran has set five minimum preconditions for resuming negotiations with the United States, including lifting sanctions, releasing frozen assets, and recognizing Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. According to reports from the Fars News Agency, Tehran views these demands as essential trust-building measures following the US naval blockade and recent hostilities. Iranian officials have further clarified that nuclear technology and uranium enrichment remain non-negotiable and outside the scope of any potential dialogue.
In response, President Donald Trump characterized the current ceasefire as “extremely fragile,” noting that Iran’s counter-proposal failed to commit to preventing the acquisition of nuclear weapons. As the diplomatic stalemate continues, the United Kingdom has joined a multinational escort mission in the Strait of Hormuz, deploying fighter jets and the HMS Dragon destroyer to secure global energy routes. Meanwhile, Iran has escalated the legal conflict by filing claims with the Iran-US Claims Arbitration Tribunal, accusing Washington of military aggression against its nuclear facilities during the conflict earlier this year.
