Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated on Monday that there is “no alternative” to accepting Iran’s 14-point peace proposal, warning that any other approach would lead to repeated failures. He further cautioned that Iran’s armed forces are prepared to deliver a “lesson-teaching” response to any aggression, asserting that the country is ready for all options.
The rhetoric intensified after President Donald Trump dismissed Iran’s counter-proposal as “garbage,” declaring the ceasefire “on life support.” While the U.S. seeks an end to hostilities before discussing nuclear issues, Tehran remains firm on its demands, which include ending the naval blockade, releasing frozen assets, and securing oil sales. Additionally, Iran’s atomic chief emphasized that uranium enrichment and nuclear technology remain non-negotiable.
In response to the deadlock and the continued shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump indicated he is considering restarting and expanding “Project Freedom.” This military operation would involve escorting commercial vessels through the strategic waterway to secure global oil and gas supplies. Despite the mounting tension, no final decision on resuming the maritime escort mission has been confirmed.
