Chinese Vice President Han Zheng attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Digital Education Conference on Monday, where he addressed the evolving relationship between technology and learning. Han stated that the integration of artificial intelligence and digital tools into education offers a major opportunity for global growth while simultaneously presenting a universal challenge for nations worldwide. He expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with international partners to establish governance frameworks, refine rules and standards, and drive innovative transformations in the digital education sector.
During the event, Han emphasized a people-centered approach to education, advocating for the cultivation of a new generation of talent equipped with lifelong learning skills and the ability to effectively utilize AI. He proposed the joint construction and sharing of digital infrastructure to ensure that the benefits of technological integration reach a broader population. Additionally, Han underscored the importance of ensuring that AI is used for the common good, calling for the establishment of risk monitoring systems to prevent misuse and ensure a safe, orderly development of digital education through deepened international cooperation.
