China’s Ministry of Commerce on Thursday firmly rejected the European Union’s designation of China as a “high-risk country,” a label used to justify funding restrictions on projects using Chinese-made solar inverters. A ministry spokesperson described the move as discriminatory and groundless, stating that it subjects Chinese products to unfair treatment without concrete evidence. The ministry warned that such actions undermine mutual trust and threaten the stability of global industrial and supply chains.
The spokesperson further noted that excluding Chinese technology violates market principles and could hinder the EU’s own green energy transition and energy security. China has urged the EU to immediately withdraw these measures and cease the stigmatization of its products. Officials stated they will closely monitor the impact of these policies and take necessary actions to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
