China’s Shenzhou-21 mission astronauts — Zhang Lu, Wu Fei, and Zhang Hongzhang — have started a one-month extended stay aboard the China Space Station after completing their planned six-month mission. The extension is meant to test long-duration spaceflight technologies. During this extra month, the crew will prepare for handover to the next team, pack experiment samples for return, inspect station systems, continue physical and health monitoring, and rehearse return procedures. Their mission will set a new Chinese record for longest time in orbit, surpassing 204 days.
