China’s software and IT services sector is reporting steady progress in core technologies like operating systems and databases, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Vice Minister Ke Jixin said more than 55 million devices were running China’s HarmonyOS by March, highlighting growing adoption of domestically developed systems.
He added that China’s industrial software ecosystem now covers major sectors and continues to strengthen in capability, especially in foundational technologies.
New AI-driven service models such as “Model-as-a-Service” are also expanding quickly, with daily AI token usage reaching over 140 trillion—an explosive rise compared to last year.
Meanwhile, Chinese cloud companies have expanded globally, building over 150 data centers across more than 30 countries and regions.
