Cyril Ramaphosa has placed police chief Fannie Masemola on precautionary suspension over allegations of misuse of public funds.
Masemola, head of the South African Police Service, is accused of violating financial regulations in awarding a multi-million dollar healthcare contract. He has denied the charges.
Ramaphosa said the move aims to ensure accountability and prevent abuse of public resources. Puleng Dimpane has been appointed as acting commissioner while investigations continue.
