Tanzania has reported that its lion population has grown to around 17,000, making it the largest in the world, according to officials.
The announcement was made by Hassan Abbasi during discussions with Ugandan tourism officials, who visited the country as part of a conservation study tour.
The talks focused on cooperation in wildlife protection, especially efforts to combat poaching and illegal wildlife trade across East Africa. Tanzania attributed the increase in lions to stronger conservation measures and a decline in poaching.
Both Tanzania and Uganda agreed to deepen collaboration in wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism development.
