China and Bhutan held candid and constructive talks on their border during the 15th Expert Group Meeting in Beijing from March 30 to April 1. Co-chaired by Hou Yanqi of China and Letho Tobdhen Tangbi of Bhutan, both sides acknowledged recent progress and discussed advancing the Three-Step Roadmap. They agreed to maintain momentum and hold the next meeting in Bhutan at a convenient time.
The roadmap, signed in October 2021, aims to resolve the long-standing border issue through three phases: clarifying disputed areas, delineating the border line, and finalizing a formal agreement. On the sidelines, the 3rd Joint Technical Team meeting reviewed boundary alignment in undisputed areas in line with the cooperation agreement.
