At Monday’s inaugural assembly of the World Data Organization (WDO) in Beijing, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a keynote and read a congratulatory message from President Xi Jinping. Ding called the WDO’s launch a major step in the intelligent era, promoting international data cooperation and bridging the data divide.
He highlighted China’s focus on data governance, digital economy development, and innovation in digital technologies, aiming to improve well-being, industrial upgrading, and global digital growth. Ding proposed three priorities: enabling efficient data flow through openness, fostering shared development via inclusive use, and ensuring data security through coordinated governance.
About 500 attendees joined, including WDO members, Chinese and international scientists, technologists, officials, and heads of international organizations.
