Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a congratulatory message for the inauguration of the World Data Organization (WDO).
Xi highlighted the growing role of data as a fundamental resource and driver of innovation. He said the WDO’s mission—to bridge the data divide, unlock data value, and advance the digital economy—offers an important platform for international cooperation and improving global data governance.
China will uphold principles of consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, supporting the WDO in shaping data governance rules, promoting digital innovation, ensuring secure and efficient data use, and maximizing the benefits of data for people worldwide.
The WDO’s inaugural assembly, held in Beijing, brought together enterprises, universities, think tanks, international organizations, and financial institutions to promote data cooperation and shared digital development opportunities.
