Quadrilateral FMs meeting backs Pakistan’s initiative to host US-Iran talks

Foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt convened on Sunday to throw their collective weight behind a major Pakistani initiative to host direct peace talks between the United States and Iran. Following a high-level quadrilateral meeting in the capital, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar announced that all four nations have agreed that diplomacy is the “only viable path” to preventing a total military collapse in the Middle East.

The ministerial group has now established a dedicated committee of senior officials to coordinate this “Islamabad Process,” which aims to bridge the gap between Washington’s demands and Tehran’s security concerns. Dar noted that both the U.S. and Iran have expressed confidence in Pakistan’s role as a neutral facilitator. As the humanitarian and economic toll of the conflict mounts, this new regional coalition is working to create the “structured conditions” necessary for a ceasefire, with the goal of bringing both warring parties to the negotiating table in the coming days.
