China has introduced its first industry standard for embodied artificial intelligence, creating a unified framework to evaluate and test next-generation AI systems. Developed by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and over 40 institutions, the standard outlines key technologies, system structures, and performance requirements, signaling a move toward more consistent and measurable development in the field. Set to take effect on June 1, 2026, the initiative builds on earlier efforts to establish standards for humanoid robots and reflects China’s broader push to formalize and advance embodied AI technologies.
