Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang said China is ready to work with other countries to build a global science and technology community, speaking at the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum in Beijing.
He highlighted major progress in China’s innovation capacity during the 14th Five-Year Plan and said the country will push for greater self-reliance in science and technology in the next phase. Key plans include expanding major innovation hubs in regions like Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Greater Bay Area.
Ding also called for more open and inclusive innovation networks, stronger international cooperation, and fair global governance in science and technology. The forum gathered around 1,000 participants from academia, business, government, and international organizations.
