China’s nationwide subsidy program for elderly care has benefited over 1.05 million seniors since its launch on January 1, providing electronic vouchers to disabled elderly individuals for services such as meal assistance, healthcare, and daily support. The program has issued more than three million vouchers worth 2.35 billion yuan, driving significantly higher overall spending on elderly care. Eligible seniors can receive up to 800 yuan per month, regardless of income level, based on standardized assessments of their care needs. Officials and experts describe the initiative as a major step in improving elderly care by easing family burdens, boosting service demand, and encouraging the development of professional care services, with plans to expand and enhance the program further.
