The main cast of the film Peng Hu appeared on the red carpet at the inaugural China Media Group Chinese Film Gala in Beijing on March 20, where a new trailer was unveiled. The date coincided with both the traditional Dragon Head-raising Day and the Spring Equinox, adding symbolic significance to the event.
Actors including Wang Xueqi, Du Jiang, Hou Wenyuan, Geng Le, and Zhang Jin wore Chinese angelica flower pins, symbolizing reunion and expressing hopes for closer ties across the Taiwan Strait.
The film is based on historical events from 1683, when Kangxi Emperor ordered naval commander Shi Lang to lead forces in the decisive Penghu battle, which led to reunification with Taiwan.
